Two Men Charged For Sexual Asault Of Minors

Officers of the Child Protection Unit have brought two men to court for sexual offences against two 16-year-old girls.

In the Southern Division, a man was arrested on Sunday, for sexually assaulting his under aged neighbour. He was charged with one count of sexually touching a minor and appeared before the San Fernando Magistrate on Monday. He was granted $130,000 bail or $5,000 cash with surety and ordered to stay 500 meters from the victim.

In Tobago, a 28-year-old health attendant was arrested on Sunday after it was reported he had intercourse with a 16-year-old female in April and May of this year. He was charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a minor. He appeared before the Scarborough Magistrates’ court on Thursday and was granted bail in the sum of $130,000 or $5,000 cash with surety. The matter has been postponed to June 18th.

The Child Protection Unit urges parents and guardians to exercise due diligence when it comes to the safety of their charges.

During this period where children are at home and more susceptible to predators, do not leave children unattended or in the care of questionable adults.
