Two Men Jointly Charged With Coconut Vendor’s Murder

Two men were scheduled to appear virtually before a Mayaro Magistrate today, jointly charged with the murder of coconut vendor Vijay Singh, which took place on August 8th.

Tosshawn Abraham, 26, aka ‘Dusty’, a vendor, of Ortoire Village, Mayaro, and UZZIAH PAUL ADONIS, 26, aka ‘Uzi’, also of Mayaro, were also charged with shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on Tuesday.

Singh, 26, a coconut vendor, also of Mayaro, was in the company of another man when they were shot at Point Radix Road. His body was found inside a wooden house with gunshot wounds about the body. The other man was taken to hospital and treated for gunshot wounds to his back, rib cage, and right elbow.

The accused were arrested by officers of the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department (CID)last Friday.

Investigations were supervised by ASP Lindon Douglas, Insp. Hosein, W/Insp. Sylvester and Sgt. Ramsahai, while Abraham and Adonis were charged on Tuesday, by PC Rambhajan of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region 2.
