Two More Illegal Firearms Taken off the Streets

The TTPS has taken two more firearms and a quantity of ammunition off the streets during an exercise which was conducted yesterday July 11.

The anti-crime exercises were conducted in the Tobago Division between 12 noon and 3:30 pm, by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force assisted by the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, the Joint Intelligence Patrol Unit, the Canine Branch and the Shirvan Road, Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

According to the TTPS, during the exercise, officers conducted searches in a bushy area in the Mt. Pleasant district for illegal firearms and stolen items. The search resulted in one Glock 17 pistol with a selector and a magazine with one round of ammunition being discovered.

Meanwhile, in the Western Division, officers conducted an exercise between 2 pm and 8 pm, yesterday, during which they proceeded to Cizan Trace, Diego Martin.

There, they conducted a search of a bushy area along the roadway, where one Glock 17 pistol with an automatic selector was found hidden in a buried bucket.

Investigations are ongoing into the two above finds.
