Two shot and firearm recovered by police in Petit Valley

Two men were arrested by police a firearm along with ammunition seized after they were fired upon during an anti- crime exercise in Petit Valley on Wednesday 1st April, 2020.

According to the TTPS: “Around 7:15 pm yesterday, while in the Simeon Road area police approached a known firearm and homicide offender, and another person, who immediately fired at the officers. Given the imminent threat to his life, police returned fire in accordance with the use of force policy and the assailants fled into a forested area and were pursued. During this pursuit there was an exchange of gunfire.

The men were subsequently captured suffering from gunshot injuries. One Ruger pistol with a magazine and four rounds of 9mm ammunition were recovered and the suspects were taken for medical attention at the Port of Spain General Hospital, where they are currently warded. None of the Police officers suffered any physical harm.”
