UK Follows US In Issuing Security Alert To Its Nationals In T&T

By Newsroom

British nationals who are currently in Trinidad are being advised by their home country to practice extreme caution, amid a string of protests which occurred in the capital city for a third consecutive day on Wednesday.

“There were widespread protests in Port-of-Spain on 30 June following the killing of three men in the Morvant area of Port-of-Spain by police on 27 June,” the UK Foreign Office warned.

It cautioned its nationals to be vigilant for updates from law enforcement.

“The TTPS issued a red alert. If there are further protests roads may be closed at short notice. You should follow the instructions of the local authorities,” it said.

On Tuesday, the United States Embassy in Port of Spain urged its citizens to “shelter in place” following the protests.
