Hours after the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) announced the closure of its Cambridge Analytica investigation, the United National Congress (UNC) expressed satisfaction with the development, saying the government can now  “get down to the serious business of the people’s work”.

In a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, the TTPS explained that the decision to close the case came after futile attempts to contact Christopher Wylie- the man who made allegations in his book Mind F*ck that Cambridge Analytica was engaged in the 2010 election process in Trinidad and Tobago through illegal data mining.

In a statement, the UNC thanked the TTPS for bringing a “quick end” to the investigation, which it says was “foisted on our population by senior members of the Keith Rowley administration.”

Meanwhile, Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Jayson Forde said  the matter will be closed “pending the emergence of evidence to support the investigation”.
