Unicomer Shutdown Because Employee was on Flight BW 521

Unicomer (Trinidad) Ltd shut down its  Head  Office and  Distribution Centre on Friday because one of it’s staff members was aboard flight BW 521 on which a passenger was confirmed positive with COVID-19.

“In light of the confirmation of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Trinidad, Unicomer confirms that a staff member, based at our Freeport Campus location was aboard flight BW 521 on which a passenger was confirmed positive with COVID-19.

“Our colleague who showed no symptoms to date of the virus and has not been contacted by Caribbean Airlines nor public health authorities has gone into self-imposed isolation,” Uncover said in a News release.

As a precaution, Unicomer closed its Freeport Campus on Friday to allow for complete sanitization of the premises. These include:

· Unicomer Head Office Building

· Courts- Freeport

· Unicomer Distribution Centre

· ServiTech

This was to safeguard the welfare of our employees, customers and wider community.  Operations at o the  Courts Freeport, Distribution Centre and ServiTech locations will re-open on Saturday.

All other Courts, Courts Optical, Radioshack, Lucky Dollar and Ashley stores island wide have remained open and in full operation.

We encourage you and your family to continuously engage in preventive activities which include:

• Frequent hand-washing

• Avoid touching your face

• Coughing or sneezing into a tissue or your elbow

• Practice social distance
