It comes hours after an earlier statement said Ms.  Christopher ordered an immediate investigation the incident which was captured and rapidly shared across social media, showing the officer making a bizarre arrest of a female traffic warden along Frederick Street in the heart of the capital.

By-standers alleged the traffic warden had stopped the off-duty officer, who was driving his private vehicle, and asked him to present his license and registration. The man is alleged to have become hostile with the traffic warden, refusing to provide the requested document.

The Professional Standards Bureau is leading the investigation.
