The US Embassy here in Trinidad and Tobago has extended condolences to the family of a mother and son who died in floods in New York on Wednesday.  

Trinidadian mother, 43-year-old Prematti Ramskiret and her 22-year-old son Nicholas, both died while trying to salvage their belongings in their basement apartment on Hollis Avenue in Queens.

“Similar to the Caribbean, the United States and our citizens also experience and share the challenges and concerns that hurricanes, tropical storms, floods, and other weather-related events have on the health, safety, infrastructure, economies, and wellbeing of our countries,” said US Chargé d’Affaires, Shante Moore.
