US Releases Hold On $12,000 Worth Of Medical Supplies Destined For BVI

By Newsroom

The US $12,000 worth of personal protective equipment (PPE) which was seized by the US government last week, will now shipped to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) territory to assist frontline healthcare workers there.

The development comes after Governor of the BVI, Augustus Jaspert, made a plea to the Trump administration. In an official statement on Thursday, Governor Jaspert said the supplies would arrive in the territory in short time.

The shipment was one of many which had been seized by the US since President Donald Trump’s ban on the exportation of certain medical supplies, including N-95 masks and gloves. At the time the ban was announced, Mr. Trump said the supplies were needed domestically.
