A Venezuelan woman was discovered dead in her in Flagstaff Hill, St. James apartment last night.

Officers made their way to the home of the deceased, Jhandrys Espinoza, at around 7:45pm after receiving a call from neighbors who reported hearing loud arguing at the location.

Her body was found in a bedroom, facing downward. 

The victim’s husband, a Cuban national, was detained in connection with the incident and is said to have confessed to strangling the woman.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted today. 

Espinoza’s killing comes just one month after another Venezuelan national- Joanna Diaz, was found brutally murdered one day after being reported missing. 

A Couva man was charged with the crime.
