WASA Adjusts Supply As Water Production Reduced By 40 Million Gallons Per Day

By Newsroom

With the records showing “significantly below normal rainfall” in March 2020 and the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service forecasting similar patterns up to  May, the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has been forced to adjust its 2020 Water Supply Management Plan.

WASA says production has been reduced by approximately 40 million gallons per day, with the treatment facilities most severely affected being Caroni, North Oropouche, Navet, Hollis, Tompire, Llengo & Naranjo and Acono in Trinidad; as well as Courland and Hillsborough West in Tobago.

Consumers are assured that the Authority has been implementing measures to help mitigate the impact of the shortfall in water production, including adjustments to the water supply schedules, and increased water trucking, particularly to communities at the extremities and high points of the distribution system. WASA says its updated water supply will be published in short time.
