Amid concerns about water safety by residents in Maracas Valley, the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has assured that bacterial tests conducted show its supply to the area is safe for use and in keeping with global health standards.
WASA says an independent lab has also been engaged to conduct further testing, after some residents complained about falling ill.
In a statement on Sunday, WASA added: “The Authority’s tests which now includes bacterial tests, are negative. However, if customers are of the view that their water supply may be contaminated, in the interim and as a precautionary measure customers can boil water that is to be used for drinking purposes.”
