WASA: Beetham Repair Works Deferred Again To February 18

By Newsroom

Despite an earlier promise to have repairs to a sewer issue in Beetham Gardens completed by February 7th, the Water and Sewerage Authority says in a statement today that it is still in the final stage of works, due to an “unforeseen delay”.

WASA says the project had been temporarily suspended last week, after a T&TEC employee was injured at the site.

Beetham residents have now been given a new date of February 18th, for the works to be completed.

WASA says at present, all three manholes have been installed and work is underway to put in the necessary pipeline to interconnect the new lines to the existing system.

“Substantive works for this component is expected to be completed by the end of this week, after which sewage flows will be fully restored through the new pipeline system. Completion of the pipeline interconnection works, will also allow for the commencement of final remedial and restoration works, inclusive of permanent road restoration. The new system will eliminate sewer backups and the disruption and discomfort to residents,” WASA said.
