WATCH: Government Receives Apt James Vessel

By Newsroom

The APT James vessel has officially been handed over to Government.

A statement from the National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO) stated that the vessel, purchased for $486 million, was received at 10pm (local time) on Wednesday.

NIDCO pointed out that due to Covid-19 restrictions, the vessel was received by representatives acting on behalf of NIDCO at Austal’s Shipyard in Vung Tau, Vietnam.

The Apt James has a capacity for 926 passengers and 250 cars, powered by travelling at speeds up to 37.5 knots, was custom designed and built for the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.

The features are said to be the very latest in Austal’s ‘smartship’ technology, including an advanced Motion Control System, to deliver a more comfortable and stable ride for passengers and crew, NIDCO said.
