WATCH: Patriotic Front Bows Out Of Election Race, Cites PM’s “Sudden” Election Date Announcement As Reason

By Newsroom

Two weeks after revealing plans to contest all 41 constituencies in the general election, Political Leader of the Patriotic Front, Mickela Panday, on Tuesday announced her party’s “difficult” decision to pull out of the race to polling day on August 10th.

In an almost five minute long statement posted online, Panday with just three weeks to go until voters head to the polls, it provided her party with insufficient time to properly prepare- and moving forward would be unfair to the “young and fresh”candidates offering themselves for service.

She maintained that the party’s decision to call it quits in the race is in no way a reflection of its wider fate- and gave a commitment to continue doing the necessary ground work to “build the party into a socio-political force to be reckoned with.”
