Legendary Olympian Usain Bolt has broken his silence amid reports that he tested positive for COVID-19, telling fans he is currently in quarantine awaiting protocol orders from the Jamaican Ministry of Health.

His statement comes following reports that began circulating by Jamaican media, that the athlete had been confirmed as having the virus.

Bolt, who celebrated his 34th birthday in Jamaica three days ago on August 21st, came under heavy criticism for hosting a birthday party amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several fans of the athlete voiced their outrage online at the time, as images and videos from the party appeared online, showing little adherence to the social distancing and mask wearing guidelines.

Among those in attendance at the event were Jamaican dancehall artiste Ding Dong,  Chris Martin, dancer Desha Ravaz and former Reggae Boy Ricardo Gardner.
