Water Woes Affecting North Trinidad To Be Resolved By Early Tomorrow, Says Public Utilities Minister

By Newsroom

An assurance from Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales this afternoon that a pipe borne water supply will be restored to all affected residents in North Trinidad by later tonight or early tomorrow morning.

He made the assurance while speaking with the media after coming out of a meeting with the National Security Council on Friday.

Of the roughly quarter million people who were without water over the past three days, due to a ruptured main at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant, Minister Gonzales says the facility is currently at 75% operation.

Meanwhile, WASA’s Acting CEO, Kelvin Romain, in a news conference earlier on Friday, said despite repairs to a ruptured main at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant being completed last evening, it will take time for supply to return to some affected areas in North Trinidad.

Mr. Romain explained that the emergency works entailed casting of the pipeline which needs time to cure properly.
