Young: Bidders For Purchase Of Petrotrin Refinery To Submit Revised Proposals Next Month

By Newsroom

The four bidders for purchase of the Petrotrin refinery have been given until the first week in April to submit to government their revised proposals.

Energy Minister Stuart Young says government has made it abundantly clear that its interest is in restarting the refinery in Pointe-a-Pierre.

He provided the update in response to UNC MP David Lee’s query on the status of bids for the refinery during Wednesday’s sitting of the House of Representatives.

Last December, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley told the Parliament that  government was set to receive final submissions from four potential buyers on the 15th of that month.

Asked, at the time, to reveal the names of the buyers, Dr. Keith Rowley said he did not have any information as to who the proposed buyers were.

The government returned to the open market in 2021, having turned down the Patriotic Energies and Technologies Ltd- the company whole owned by the OWTU- on three separate occasions.
