The Zoological Society of Trinidad and Tobago (ZSTT) is appealing to the public to be responsible when using fireworks during end of year celebrations.

President of the ZSTT, Gupte Lutchmedial urged fireworks users to consider the harmful impact of noisy fireworks on all animals as well as vulnerable persons in society, especially the elderly and informed.

She said: “From an environmental perspective, fireworks are also harmful, causing extensive air pollution in a short amount of time, leaving metal particles, dangerous toxins, harmful chemicals and smoke in the air for hours and days.”
